First Amendment Rights

First Amendment
Springfield AWC embraces issues relating to the First Amendment and the Progress of Women.

Articles in the chapter newsletter and one luncheon program each year update members on these issues.

In 1791 the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution established a worldwide precedent in 45 words:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

AWC communicators regard these rights as essential American values and we encourage members and citizens to GRASP those rights.
